“It’s not an adventure,” my wife adamantly replies. On its face, I would agree that having the family’s sole bread winner, wage earner, gainfully employed linchpin laid off unexpectedly does not give rise to the appearance of “an adventure.” At least, not one that anybody would intentionally embark upon. Not the sort of thing that brings volunteers in droves. NOT an adventure!
Still, it’s worthwhile to find ways to convert this trauma into an adventure. Sometimes one has to do this alone, as such attempts are viewed by others – especially closely involved and affected individuals like spouses – as avoidance of the serious, disastrous realities at hand.
Still and anyway, accept the challenge — even if no one consciously offers it. It’s a good idea. It’s a better way to take on life. Always look for better ways — to make it fun, to approach it with a creative attitude, to take the offensive.
Life, head on!
